English summary
We all have to deal with gender stereotypes – every day. This concerns their pluralization, but also their persistent effect. It also applies for counseling. For the person asking for help as well as for the counselor. Men, according to a still widespread stereotype, are not in need of help. In fact, men’s vulnerability is still often made a taboo, both individually and in society as a whole.
Men’s counselling is sensitive for the effectiveness of stereotypes and requirements of masculinity. It provides support for boys, men and fathers in various challenging life situations.
Our guide to gender-sensitive counseling for boys, men, and fathers provides professionals with a clear introduction to the field of men’s counseling. It encourages deeper reflection on questions of masculinity in the counseling context and offers both conceptual insights and methodological guidance. In addition, the guide presents practical examples and further resources for professional practice. The guide can be downloaded free of charge.
